In the second half of November Mr. Ban Ki-moon (UN Secretary-General) and Ms. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka (Executive Director of UN Women) kicked off a special event entitled \u2018Orange the World<\/strong>: Raise Money to end Violence against Women,\u2019 commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25 November).<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cThe extent to which violence is embedded in society means that uprooting it is also a job for all of society. That includes men and women, the media and the religious community. We can work together to address the inequality and prejudice<\/strong> that enable and enflame violence against women and girls,\u201d Ms. Mlambo-Ngcuka<\/a> told an audience that wore orange in support of ending violence against women.<\/p>\n

The UN Women campaign<\/a> started on 25 November (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women<\/a>) and ended on 10 December (Human Rights Day<\/a>).<\/p>\n

In November-December period: the partner countries of our PFD programme have launched their own events related to \u2018Orange the World\u2019 campaign and \u201816 days of Activism to End Violence against Women\u2019. They have lit up the building and their offices, been dressed in orange colors and organized the regional conferences<\/strong> (like in Moldovan rayon Cahul). We thank them for taking action and supporting this important campaign.<\/p>\n
